Art Bronze Sculptor

Artistic Approach

Since 2007, Lionel Hamon has explored traditional manufacturing techniques, building a strong foundation in craftsmanship. In 2022, with the reopening of his workshop, he entered a decisive phase of his practice, deconstructing and redefining his methods to develop a more personal and essential language.
His work is rooted in a direct relationship with the natural world. He chose to work with tree bark for its raw and authentic nature—a surface often overlooked, yet one that carries the full history of a tree. Each bark expresses a distinct character, shaped by its age, environment, species, and the seasons it has endured. A young oak does not bear the same tension or depth as a century-old tree. What interests him is not decorative form, but structure and identity.
Each piece is assembled from reproductions of natural elements, primarily bark. Every imprint is taken from a specific tree and reproduced at its original scale. The trace is preserved and integrated into the work.
Through craftsmanship, Lionel Hamon gives form to these natural traces, establishing a quiet dialogue between material, time, and the viewer, and inviting a more attentive way of seeing.
